Short Description

Gut microbiome is now recognized as an essential component of the intestinal ecosystem, which contributes to the wellbeing of animal host in a range of aspects, especially nutrition and disease resistance. However, maintaining a good balance of beneficial bacteria for optimal production is challenging due to various stressors. Modulations of gut microbiome by feed components and importance of probiotics in modulating the microbiome for optimal production and efficiency will be discussed.

Speaker Biography

 

Dr. Girish Channarayapatna holds a Bachelor degree in Veterinary Science and Master degree in Poultry Science from University of Agricultural Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Bangalore, India. He completed his Doctorate Degree in 2009 from Animal and Poultry Science Department, University of Guelph, Canada. Dr. Channarayapatna joined Evonik Animal Nutrition in Singapore in 2010 as the Technical Service Manager and since 2013, he led the technical team of Evonik Animal Nutrition for Asia South region as Director of Nutrition and Technical Services. Additionally, he expanded his role focusing on Precision Livestock Farming as Head of Asia South Region in 2019. Currently he is Technical Service Director of Monogastrics Specialty Nutrition APAC
