Short Description

Amino acids need to be balanced in ruminant diet to get optimum performance. Imbalance in amino acids profile and high dietary protein content not only increase feed and production cost but also have negative impact on health and performance. Because of low methionine level in the microbial protein and commonly used raw materials, methionine is considered as a first limiting amino acid in ruminants. Supplementation of rumen-protected methionine (Mepron®) provides an opportunity to fill the gap of methionine deficiency in an efficient and cost-effective way. Reduced dietary crude protein with Mepron® supplementation reduces the feed cost, improves animal performance and income over feed cost. This approach also reduce nitrogen excretion and improves protein/feed efficiency.
